Port Blair, Jan 02: Mr. Udit Prakash Rai, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman/ Chairman, District Health Society, South Andaman inaugurated the Health & Wellness Centers of Mannarghat & Shoal Bay-12 under the flagship of Ayushmaan Bharat scheme of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India in presence of Mr. Sandeep Biswas, Pramukh, Ferrargunj, Mr. Basheer Pradhan Gram Panchayat Mannarghat, Smt. Mary Puspha, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Shoal Bay, Dr. Tamanna, Medical Officer In charge PHC Wimberlygunj, PRI members & general public of respective area on 1st January, 2019.
Further, the Health & Wellness Center of Prothrapur was also inaugurated by Mr. K. Muthu, Municipal Councilor, Ward No. 19 in presence of Dr. Purnima Burman, Medical Superintendent I/c, PHC Garacharma, Mr. B Nagendra, District Programme Manager, District Health Society, South Andaman and general public.
During the above function, it was inform that the Sub Centers are upgraded as Health & Wellness Center to address the preventive, primitive, curative & rehabilitative health care needs of the general public in its catchment area by upgrading the infrastructure and human resource to provide Pregnancy care and maternal health services, Neonatal and infant health services, Child health, Chronic communicable diseases, Non-communicable diseases, Management of mental illness, Dental care, Eye care, Geriatric care Emergency medicine, Yoga services at community level.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman dedicated the Health & Wellness Centers to the General Public and asked them to avail the upgraded health facilities.
