Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society Conducted mainstreaming training programme on HIV/AIDS , HIV AIDS Act 2017 & Blood Donation Motivation

Port Blair, Jan 25: Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society conducted training programme on HIV/AIDS, HIV/AIDS (Prevention & Control), Act 2017 & Blood Donation Motivation and Condom Promotion at fish boat landing jetty, Junglighat on 24/01/2021. More than   75 Youths attended the programme.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of Dr. M. Joy, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society.

Shri P. Yogesh (President), Shri. Loknath, Secretary and Shri Vinod, Advisor by the Yuva Bharat Samaj Seva Charitable Trust, A&N Islands organized and coordinated the whole programme.

Shri Girish Kumar, AD (SPM) A & N AIDS Control Society spoke on all the aspects of HIV/AIDS, occurrences, spread, treatment and HIV ACT 2017. The knowledge of preventing discrimination and stigma against HIV/AIDS was also imparted. Shri Kaushik Kumar Halder, AD(IEC) deliberated about the condom promotion and Smti. Palwinder Kaur, Counselor also motivated the gathering for Voluntary Blood Donation, shared the importance and benefits of blood donation following all the COVID-19 protocols.

Smti. Latha, Lab Technicain, ICTC, G.B. Pant Hospital conducted the Community based Screening for the participants and the participants were exhorted to come forward for ‘Knowing their HIV Status” by voluntarily getting themselves tested. The test report if found positive will be dealt confidentially.

The programme concluded with vote of thanks.
