DC South Andaman visits South Andaman areas

Port Blair, Jan 03: Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (SA) accompanied by SDM and AC(U/T) visited areas in and around South Andaman which included visit to PHC, Graveyard land and Stadium at Wimberlygunj and under construction Kanyapuram Indoor Stadium and Stewartgunj.

During the visit to the PHC at Wimberlygunj the team assessed the COVID-19 preparedness and also enquired about the possibility of expansion of the parking area to avoid congestion in front of the Health Centre.

The team then visited the graveyard in Wimberlygunj and discussed the possibility of development of a shed for the visitors to be taken up on priority. The team then paid a visit to the Open Stadium at Wimberlygunj and inspected the ongoing construction of boundary wall there. Thereafter along with Director (Sports), the team made a visit to the Indoor Stadium at Kanyapuram to take stock of the issue regarding leakage of the roof. It was assured that the process for repairing has been started and shall be taken up on priority basis.

Further at Stewartgunj playfield a proposal for levelling the ground and installation of lights for sports activities at night under RURBAN scheme was also discussed and directions to initiate the proceedings were also given by DC(SA). The Director (Sports) who accompanied the DC(SA) ensured speedy resolution.

The team of District Administration was accompanied by revenue officials of concerned area including Tehsildar, Ferrargunj and representatives of concerned line departments.

The DC(SA) conveyed that the District Administration is committed for the development of infrastructure in the outlying areas of South Andaman District for the benefit of public.
