Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Shipping), A&N Administration to resume the sailing programmes of ships for Visakhapatnam sector since there is a huge population of residents in A&N Islands from Andhra Pradesh and Telengana State waiting to travel to their place of origin which owing to COVID-19 pandemic had been to be suspended.
Shri Sharma stated that this huge local population of Telugu community are facing huge financial hardship due to suspension of ships to Visakhapatnam since April 2020 due to which many are unable to visit their native places or unable to go for medical treatment or other personal engagements, to provide relief to the Telugu community from these concerns he has urged the Administration to facilitate one or two sailing programme of ships from Port Blair to Visakhapatnam.
