20,000 Cloth Bags to be distributed on 2nd Oct’19: Goodbye Polythene Bags- an initiative by BRAIT

Port Blair, Sept 23: The trainees of Fashion and Apparel Design course under Skill Development Programme of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Institute of Technology have taken an initiative to make A&N Islands a ‘Polythene Bag Free Place’. More than 200 trainees of 12 Skill Development Centres, located at Diglipur, Mayabunder, Rangat, Kadamtala, Ferrargunj, Mithakhari, Attam Pahad, Pahargaon (Main Centre), Hutbay, Car Nicobar, Katchal and Campbell Bay have decided to make 150 nos. Cloth Bags by each trainee or a group of 2 trainees on or before 2nd October 2019 to pay tribute to our Father of the Nation- Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th Birth Anniversary. The trainees have collected old clothes from door to door to make these Bags. More than 20,000 Cloth Bags will be distributed among the general public at prominent market places by the trainees Free of Cost on 2nd October 2019. While distributing the bags, trainees will motivate and encourage the general public to use Cloth Bags by saying “Goodbye Polythene Bag.”
