630 players from all over India participated in Online National U-14 Open Chess Championship 2021

Port Blair, June 18: Around 630 players from all over India participated  in the Online National U-14 Open Chess Championship 2021, organised by All India Chess Federation (AICF) in which players from Andaman & Nicobar also took part in it enthusiastically. The event began on 16th June and concluded today successfully. The games were  held in  Rapid format with 15 minutes, plus a 10 second increment per move, per player, for  11 rounds for three days. 3 rounds on first day and four round each on second & third Day.

Though this is the first ever online chess competition for the participants of these islands,  the performance of the Andaman players is quite appreciable . Particulary Chirag Kumar ,being unrated player,  played exceptionally well and scored 6 points in 11 rounds with six wins against all higher rated opponents in unbelieable way. Similarly D Shrestha Vijay  scored 4.5 with four wins and a draw, D Dhruva Kumar scored 4 points with 3 wins and two draws, K. Harsith scored 3.5 points with three wins and a draw , V Yashwant scored, 3 points with two wins and two draws and  P Venkata Laghnesh scored 2.5 points with two wins & a draw.

Meanwhile the U-14 Girls Online National Chess Championship 2021 was inaugurated today  (18.06.2021) by  Shri. Dharmendra Kumar, Chairman of  Arbiter Commission (AICF) in presence of Shri. A.K. Raizada , Inerternatonal Arbiter and Chairman of Research & Development Wing (AICF). More than 300 players across India are participating in this event in  which R. Kashthuri Bhai, B Kavya , R. Shruti and Tanisha Raj , from Anadman & Nicobar Islands are taking part in it.

First day of the event had Inauguration ceremony, technical meeting and practice matches and the real action will start on Saturday (19.06.2021) on Tornelo online chess platform.
