World Tourism Day has been celebrated sine 1980 on the 27th of September every year. This is an initiative of the United Nations spearheaded by its specialized agency, the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization). Every year there is a different theme on which the event is celebrated. The theme for 2022 is, “Rethinking Tourism” .
World Tourism Day returns to focus on the future. As the sector’s recovery gets underway and building on unprecedented political and public recognition for the sector, UNWTO will highlight the opportunity to rethink how we do tourism.
