Port Blair, Oct 05: Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands today met the Director of Shipping Services, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mr. Ajoy Bairagi was accompanied by Mr. D.C. Aruna Giri, State Vice President, BJP, A & N Islands and Mr. Uday Shankar Singh, State Media Convenor, during the meeting with the Director of Shipping Services Mr. Ajoy Bairagi raised several issues being faced by the general public.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, BJP, A & N Islands raised the issue of the crowd in the Passenger Ferries plying between Chatham and Bambooflat and requested the Director of Shipping Services to depute an additional passenger ferry in the route. The Director of Shipping Services assured that a 150 pax passenger ferry will be deputed in the route from day after tomorrow for the convenience of the General Public.
Further Mr. Ajoy Bairagi raised the issue of irregular sailings to Little Andaman and Nicobar Group of Islands because of which several people from these Islands are stuck in Port Blair and also in the respective Islands. Mr. Ajoy Bairagi further mentioned that nearly 400 passengers from Hutbay, Little Andaman are stuck in Port Blair and are in urgent need to reach back home.
The Director of Shipping Services ensured that sailings will be scheduled to Little Andaman, Nicobar Group of Islands after the passing of the cyclonic weather conditions.
