Port Blair, Jun 20: An awareness programme on HIV/AIDS was organized by the Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society at the premises of Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram on 18th June 2022.
This initiative was supported by an NGO called NaiManzil and Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram. The awareness programme saw a large gathering especially youngsters paying attentive ears to the expert councillors from the AIDS control society.
Mr. G. Venkateshwar Rao, CTST and Mrs. Fareeda Bibi, CTST from AIDS Control Society, Community Health Centre, Bamboo Flat. The programme started with the briefings on the topic from the experts’ councillors and later blood samples from the gatherings were collected for “Rapid Test”.
Speaking to the present gathering, Mr. P Abdul Basheer, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram expressed his gratitude to the expert councillors from AIDS Control Society and the people for taking their time for such a programme of significance. He further added the importance of awareness on such a sensitive topic which is quite considered a taboo.
