ANC Observes NWWA Week

Port Blair, Feb 25: Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) observed Naval Wives Welfare Association (NWWA) week recently to mark 33rd NWWA Day. Various activities including a health camp, interactive talks, and workshop and tree plantation were organised during the week long functions.

The week commenced with “Green Sale”, where local plants were exhibited. This was followed by an exhibition held by quilting unit of NWWA, called ‘Kritya’. The exhibition showcased items like bags, clutches, pouches etc made from clothes donated by children of Naval Children School (NCS).

Gynaecologist and Surgical specialist from INHS Dhanvantari conducted an interactive talk on women health to spread awareness among ladies about breast and cervical cancer. To dispel myths about snakes, an enlightening talk on facts about snakes was also organised in coordination with Forest Department, Andaman and Nicobar Administration. NWWA week culminated with a workshop “Decoding Adolescence” at NCS, Port Blair conducted by Ms Ayesha Rehman, an expert in the field, on 22nd Feb 2019.

NWWA is an Association of wives of the Indian Navy personnel registered under Society Registration Act XXI of 1860 and supplements the efforts of the Indian Navy in areas of community welfare and development, particularly with regard to the families. 14th February is observed as NWWA day.
