Dear Islanders
You are well aware the country including our islands are seeing a sudden spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases. Keeping in view of what is being called the second wave, the Government of India under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Naraendra Modi ji, has taken several steps including free of cost vaccination of everyone above 45 Yrs of age.
In view of this, the A&N Administration has setup vaccination centres at several places in the islands. More centres are being planned. Transport facilities are also being arranged to make vaccination hassle free for the islanders. These steps however will not fructify until and unless we play our part in the fight against the virus by getting ourselves vaccinated.
As a responsible citizen, I therefore earnestly appeal fellow islanders, political leaderships, grass root PRI functionaries, NGO’s and social workers to come forward, motivate and facilitate eligible islanders in our neighborhood to get vaccinated at a nearby centre. I also appeal everyone to wear face mask, wash hands regularly, avoid crowding and follow covid appropriate behavior.
We have achieved zero active case in the past. I am sure, with every citizen complimenting the efforts made by the Government of India/A&N Administration, we will surely win the battle against the virus and once again make our islands corona free.
