Application floated for three Tourism projects under PPP mode at Long, Smith and Aves Island; last date extended to March 11

Port Blair, Feb 25: The last date for submission of application for Request For Qualification (RFQ) has been extended upto 3.00 PM on March 11, 2019 in respect of three tourism projects under PPP mode at Long, Smith and Aves Island. The Andaman & Nicobar Administration is engaged in development of sustainable eco-tourism in the Islands and accordingly tourism projects have been identified at Long, Smith and Aves Island. These projects have been steered by the Islands Development Authority (IDA) with the support of NITI Aayog.

Request for Qualification (RFQ) applications from interested developers to undertake development, operation & maintenance through Design, Build, Finance, Operate & Transfer (DBFOT) on PPP basis have been invited for the Lalaji Bay, Long Island, Eco-Tourism Resort – 220 Keys, Smith Island, Eco-Tourism Tents and Tree Houses – 70 Keys,    Aves Island, Eco-Tourism Tents – 50 Keys.

A & N Administration shall provide upfront environment and CRZ clearance and accordingly. The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of MoEF in its meeting held on 25.01.2019 and 18.02.2019 considered the applications.

The A & N Administration has also identified few infrastructure projects to give impetus to development of the above tourism project like civil enclave at Shibpur airport, Diglipur, Inter-island air connectivity under UDAN scheme, upgradation of Andaman Trunk Road including construction of bridges at Middle Strait creek and Hanspuri Strait creek, submarine fibre cable project, etc.

Further, for development of industrial units, Govt. of India has notified the “Lakshadweep and Andaman &Nicobar Islands Industrial Development Scheme (LANIIDS)”. Under the scheme, incentives will be provided on reimbursement basis for Central Capital Investment Incentive for Access to Credit (CCIIAC), Central Interest Incentive (CII), Central Comprehensive Insurance Incentive (CCII), Goods & Service Tax (GST) reimbursement, Income Tax (IT) reimbursement, Transport Incentive (TI) and Employment Incentive (EI).
