Port Blair, Sept 22: Today an awareness program on cancer disease was organised by NGO, with you on World Rose Day (welfare of cancer patients) at the meeting hall of NGO office, Bambooflat. Dr. Jameela, Chief Medical Officer , CHC Bambooflat was the chief guest. Earlier welcoming the chief guest and other guest Ms V. K.Mariyam Bibi, President, NGO talked about the significance of observing this day. She said this day is celebrated in memory of a 12year old Melinda Rose who was a resident of Canada . Melinda was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer(Askin’s tumour) and did not give up hope to fight the disease.Rose day enables the world to stand for the welfare of cancer patients and helps in creating hope for cancer patients for the availability of its cure.
On this occasion the chief guest felicitated few cancer patients who are fighting with this disease by presenting roses and shawl to them. During her speech , she explained in detail about the cause, symptoms and treatment of cancer disease and stressed upon the proper caring of patients with utmost love and affection. She urged the people to visit the hospital when the symptoms arises so that it can be detected at an early stage.
The program was attended by women’s following all the norms of Covid -19 protocols.
