Career Counseling and Guidance Program by Nicobar Police

Port Blair, Jan 12: Nicobar Police, in its continuous efforts to empower tribal youths became part of a career counseling and guidance program for class IX- XII at GSSS, Big Lapathy, Car Nicobar. The aim was to tap the potential of students in both sports and studies.

The Dy Superintendent of Police, Car Nicobar, Sh. Prashant Choudhary, DANIPS briefed the students about  future career options after their schooling and graduation. They were told to pursue their interest/ passion and make it their profession. Students of all the streams- Science, Commerce, Arts were present where they were apprised about the various  Career choices they can make after their schooling; eg- MBBS, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA,BBS, BA, B.Tech/BE etc. and also about their scope. The students were sensitized about the various competitive exams and when to and how to start their preparation of government jobs eg. Civil Services Examination, NDA/CDS, Indian Forest Service, Banking Services exams conducted by SSC and about the examinations conducted by Andaman & Nicobar Police for Sub Inspectors/ Police Constables and  various competitive exams of Andaman & Nicobar Administration.

Further, the students were told to be part of the “Police ki Pathshala” an initiative of Nicobar police where students from Class IX- XII are given free coaching classes by the police officials  including SP/Nicobar Sh. Rajeev Kumar, IPS, SDPO  Car Nicobar, Sh. Prashant Choudhary,  at SP office, on every Saturday and Sunday from 3 PM to 5 PM. This initiative has been started by Nicobar police 06 months back, to bridge the gap between school education and competitive world. Currently more than 40 students are attending the classes. This initiative has been widely appreciated by parents, teachers and students.
