Port Blair, July 14: To create awareness and sense of responsibility among the general mass about Forest Protection & Conservation, a mass planting programme was conducted as part of 72nd Vanmahotsava at Agriculture Farm, Nimbudera.
Mr. Satyaprakash Singh,IFS DFO, Middle Andaman Division, Mr. Anil V. John, ACF(GSM), Mr. C.A. Majeed, ACF (MA), Dr. Parag Deori Sr.Vet.Officer, Basantipur, Smti.Sebastia lakra, Ex.Pradhan, Basantipur,Mr. Manoj Kumar, In-Charge, KVK, Nimbudera & Smti. Shahrun Nisa, Agriculture Officer, Seed Multiplication Farm , Nimbudera along with Staffs & Workers of the Forest and Agriculture Department planted the Seedlings. About 150 Nos. fruit bearing Seedlings of Lemon, Orange, Karonda, Guava Jackfruit, Cashew etc. were planted on the vacant land of the Agriculture Farm.
In his brief address, Mr. Satyapraksh Singh, IFS, DFO Middle Andaman, reiterated the need to save the pristine Forest and appealed every citizen to plant a tree in saving the fragile ecosystem of these Islands for generation next. On this Occasion fruit bearing Seedlings were also distributed among the villagers of Nimbudera and Basantipur Area. The entire programme was conducted as per the COVID 19 Protocols.
