Central Crime Station Busts Gambling Den , Arrest 08, Seized Over 23 Thousand Rupees

Port Blair, Sept 03: Keeping its commitment of zero tolerance against illegal activities, the staff of PS Central Crime Station conducted raid in Junglighat area and arrested 08 gamblers.

On 03/09/2020 Inspr. Mahesh Kumar Yadav, SHO, PS Central Crime Station received credible information regarding Gambling in Junglighat Fisheries Colony near Ram Mandir. Immediately, a team comprising ASI Vijay Shankar, Head Constable Sanjay Kujur, Upender Singh, Constable Hari Krishna Yadav and P. K. Mondal raided the spot at around 0945 hrs. All the 08 Gamblers were arrested and Rs. 23,160/- in cash was recovered from their possession with board money of Rs. 21,070/-. The accused were identified as Y. Rama Rao, B. Kamraj, V. Raja Rao, R. Joga Rao, K. Venkat Rao, P. Madhav Rao, T. Lingaraju and K. Gopal all R/o Junglighat. A case under section 188/34 IPC rws 5/7 of A & N Gambling Regulation 1951 & 51(b) of Disaster Management Act, 2005 was registered at PS CCS. The raid was conducted under the command of Shri Jagdev Singh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy.SP(CID) and under overall supervision of  Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP(CID).

 

The Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these islands free from anti-social activities and is keeping strict vigil to stop gambling, smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substances in these Islands. General Public is once again requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substances, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, & 9474233832. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
