Compulsory RAT for all incoming passengers at the Veer Savarkar International Airport from Today

Port Blair, Apr 15: There has been a rapid surge in the COVID-19 positive cases in the South Andaman District and in order to contain further spread of virus for the safety of the islanders as a whole, it is hereby ordered that compulsory Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) shall be conducted on all incoming passengers at the Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair with effect from 16/04/2021, free of cost. This will be in addition to the mandatory RTPCR negative test report to be carried by the passengers, already in force.
All the inbound passengers are hereby directed to cooperate with the officials performing the test at the airport and support the Administration in the fight against COVID-19.
Passengers who are tested positive by the Rapid Antigen Test shall be kept under Institutional Quarantine as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in Government facilities or will have the option to stay in identified hotels on payment basis.
Any disobedience of the above orders shall invite penal action u/s 188 of Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 against the violator(s).
