COVID19: 15,000 persons of the age group 40+ and co-morbid identified by District Administration after door to door survey

Port Blair, Sept 06: In its bid to contain the further spread of the COVID-19 infection in the islands, the District Administration has completed a door to door survey wherein around 45000 households, in which approximately 15000 persons of the age group 40+ and are co-morbid were identified.

The survey was conducted with the help of filed staffs from different departments such as ANMs, ASHA workers, Forest/Anganwadi workers, Teachers and Revenue Department.

The regular follow up surveillance is being done at 2 LEVEL BASIS, wherein the suspected ILI cases amongst the co-morbid persons are telephonically contacted by the District Control Room and subsequently field staff from PHCs would be deputed to the concerned household based on the case to case basis. All PHCs are sufficiently equipped with oximeters, ambulances and oxygen cylinders etc. to deal with any kind of situation.

To further monitor and improve the community level intelligence in the fight against COVID-19, committees are formed wherein the Pradhan/Councillor/Community representatives and a team of volunteers to regularly monitor the health condition of co-morbid persons in their respective areas and to report to DC Control Room for further follow up.

COVID kits are also being distributed amongst the patients and whoever is quarantined as ILI cases, whenever necessary. The active participation of one and all in this fight and ensure TWO GOLDEN PRINCIPLES of COVID-19:- (1) Wear masks properly (2) Maintain social distancing/2 gaz ki doori.
