DC South Andaman inspect Health facilities in South Andaman villages

Port Blair, Aug 23: The Deputy Commissioner (SA), Shri Suneel Anchipaka along with Additional District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the IAS (Probationer) visited Primary Health Centre, Wimberlygunj today and inspected the facilities available there. During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with medical staff, PRI members & community people. He took stock of the position and enquired about the status of sanitization, disinfection and water supply in the PHC. Issues like BSNL telephone connectivity, timings of ferry from Chatham to Bambooflat and quarantine of staff were highlighted and necessary instructions were issued to the concerned Departments on the spot, to resolve the issues at the earliest. It was also assured that the same will be followed up and resolved in time bound manner.

On the same day, the Deputy Commissioner (SA) alongwith the Additional District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the IAS (Probationer) made a random inspection of the Community Health Centre, Bambooflat and interacted with medical staff, PRI members & community persons. During his interaction, issues pertaining to telephone disconnection & quarantine of staffs were highlighted and instructions were given to the officers of concerned Departments to resolve the issues in a time bound manner. The Deputy Commissioner also enquired about the functionality of Incinerator and disposal mechanism of biomedical waste.

During the visit to both the Health Care Centres, the Deputy Commissioner assured that the District Administration is striving to create conducive working environment for the frontline workers and also mentioned that the District Administration is always at their doorstep for public service delivery.
