Deputy Commissioner along with Assistant Commissioner Sur-prise Visit to Shaheed Dweep

Port Blair, Apr 11: Mr. SuneelAnchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) along with Mr. Dhole AomKashinathrao, Assistant Commissioner (HQ) and Mr. Ganesh Sammaddar, Chief Medical Officer, GB Pant Hospital made a surprise visit to Shaheed Dweep to review the COVID-19 situations in view of the sudden surge of positive cases in the South Andaman District.
During the visits the team was accompanied by Chief Medical Officer, PHC Shaheed Dweep, SHO, Police Station, Shaheed Dweep, officials of revenue and line departments. They team visited the Primary Health Centre, Shaheed Dweep and reviewed the preparedness in tackling the pandemic in the island with Ex-PRIs and members of market association.
The DC(SA) took stock of the details of home quarantined persons, door to door surveillance of ILI cases and medicine distribution to such cases. Subse-quently, he enquired about the preparedness of the authorities of the vaccination drive launched by the Govt. of India to cover all priority groups urgently and in an expeditious manner.
The Medical Officer, PHC Shaheed Dweep informed that out of around 700 individuals of 45 plus age group, 635 have already been vaccinated and under the “TIKA UTSAV” to be started from tomorrow, all the remaining populace of the islands will be motivated to get vaccinated at the earliest.
The DC (SA) directed the MO, PHC, Shaheed Dweepthat by 11/04/2021, Shaheed Dweep should achieve status of 100% vaccination of individuals above the age group of above 45. Later on the DC(SA) randomly paid courtesy visit to some houses of senior citizens and convinced them to get vaccinated.
Further he visited the local market and sensitised the general populace and tried to convince shopowners about COVID-19 vaccination. During the interac-tion with one of the shopowner Mr. Narottam Biswas, the DC(SA) inquired about his parents and convinced him that to fight COVID-19, vaccination is very essen-tial, which motivated him and he assured the DC(SA) that he will get his parents vaccinatedtomorrow itself.
