Directives for passengers travelling by ship issued

Port Blair, Sept 01: With reference to Order No. 938 dt. 31.08.2020 issued by Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, the Directorate of Shipping Services has issued directives for the passengers travelling by ship as mentioned below: All passengers should mandatorily undergo COVID-19 test prior to travel and only passengers tested negative for the above test would be allowed to board the vessel.

The COVID test for passengers travelling on board ship will be conducted on payment of Rs. 500/- per person which will be borne by individual passengers except Govt. Servant on official duty and Medical patient alongwith an attendant. All passengers travelling onboard vessel should invariably wear face mask and carry sanitizers at all times.

All vessels will be operated with 50% of the capacity so that passengers can be allotted staggered seating for maintaining social distancing. Passengers to avoid congregation onboard vessels. While travelling, in case any passenger feels fever, cough or difficulty in breathing, he/she may immediately report to the ship’s staff for taking further necessary action.

Passengers travelling onboard shall strictly adhere to the instructions of ship’s staff. In order to enable early identification of potential risk infection one must download Arogya Setu App. The above Order shall come into force with effect from 1st Sept, 2020 till 30th Sept. 2020, a press release from DSS said.
