Port Blair, Sept 01: The District Administration in its drive against encroachment on Government revenue land in the South Andaman District has been carrying out eviction drives.
In this connection unauthorised occupation over Sy.No 231 area 3.1985 hects situated at village Manjery identified for water aerodrome has been removed today in the presence of Tehsildar, Ferrargunj and same has been restored in favour of Revenue Department.Further the Khasra Register depicting the unauthorised occupation has also been corrected and the entry has been cancelled.
Further in a land mark move, the District Administration has taken back the possession of land bearing Sy.No.1969/2 and 1971/4 area 60 sq. mtrs and 120 sq. mtrs, situated at Aberdeen village under Port Blair Tehsil which was allotted on lease basis for a period of 05 years, which had expired on 06.01.1992 and the land revenue was also stopped from 1992.
Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) lauded the efforts of the revenue field staff and further cautioned the general public to refrain from indulging in such illegal encroachments. He has requested the public to come forward in case of any inquiries or information regarding such illegal encroachments and can pass on such information to the District Control Room on the following numbers 03192-240127/1077.
The revenue department as a custodian of all government land will continue its efforts to protect land from illegal encroachments by conducting such drives.
