District Health Society conducts TB Active Case Finding survey and COVID-19 suspects surveillance programme

Port Blair, Jul 06: The District Health Society, South Andaman under National Tuberculosis Elimination Program conducted the TB Active Case Finding (ACF) survey and COVID-19 suspects surveillance on 06th July 2022 at Shadipur.

            The team of the District TB unit along with paramedics and ASHA workers of UHC Shadipur and volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra in coordination with the Directorate of Health Services visited the houses of TB patients, street vendors and other shopkeepers and conducted Active Case Finding (ACF) survey and also collected spot samples of the identified presumptive TB suspects for further testing at TB Unit of G. B. Pant Hospital.

            Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman requested the general public to avail the opportunity to screen themselves and those who are having fever, cough and night sweats may go for a TB test at the nearest Health Centre. DC (SA) urged the general public to follow the COVID appropriate behaviour and cooperate with the field staff during the home visit campaign.

            It was also communicated that the COVID -19 surveillance and ACF of TB will be conducted at Dairy Farm from 5 pm to 8 pm on 07th July 2022.
