Port Blair, Jan 02: At the end of 2019 ‘International Bangabandhu Research & Cultural Foundation (Chicago – Dhaka – Kolkata)’ organized a day-long international literary festival titled ” Banga Pradesh : Bangabandhu Sahitya Sammelan” in collaboration with ‘Bengal Journalists Welfare Trust’ and ‘West Bengal Rural Newspaper Owners & Employees Welfare Trust’ at Digha the beach-town of West Bengal on 29th December where Dr. Jyotirmoy Roychowdhury , HOD, Bengali, JNRM has been felicitated by the honour “Bangabandhu Sampreeti Smarak Smman” for his contribution in creative writing and research works.
Dr. Roychowdhury has delivered a lecture on ‘Cultural unity of Indian sub-continent’ in this occasion. He also spoke regarding studies of Bengali language and literature in Andamans and unveiled few newly published literary books . Writers , Poets and journalists from various parts of Bangladesh and West Bengal participated this function which held at newly built ‘Jahaz Bari’ auditorium of ‘Digha-Shankarpur Development Authority’.
Technologist Dr. Lutfar Rahaman (Rajshahi) , Journalist cum writer Mr. Harun Ar Rashid Sagar(Narayangunj), Mr.Abdul Khalek , Mr. Abdul Wahid, Co-ordinator , Gangchil (Dhaka) of Bangladesh and Prof. Layek Ali Khan, retired HOD , Bengali , Vidyasagar University, Dr. Chittaranjan Maity, writer Mr. Sukesh Mondal , Poet Subrata Bhattacharya, Swami Abhayananda of RK Mission, Mr. Bahubalindra, Shri Kaniska Shasmal and other dignitaries of West Bengal graced the function and have been honoured by the organizers. Classical dance presented by kumari Sneha Bhattacharya and Baul Geeti performed by a group of baul singers Mesmerized the audience.
