Four Young chess players of A&N Islands becomeFIDE rated players

Port Blair, Jul 01: Good news for Islanders as Four Young chess players of Andaman Nicobar Islands viz D Dhruva Kumar and D Shrestha Vijay of Carmel Sr. Sec. School, J S Virat of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Port Blair and V Yashwant of Kamraj School have opened their FIDE Rating as per the latest FIDE rating list published on 30th June 2022 by World Chess Federation.

            D Dhruva Kumar and D Shrestha Vijay of Carmel Sr. Sec. School recently participated in the 13th Chennai Open International Grandmasters Chess Tournament 2022 held in Chennai and performed reasonably well which led them to open the FIDE Rating.

            Whereas J.S Virat of VKV and V Yashwant of Kamaraj School participated in the National School Chess Championship 2022 at Bhubaneshwar and performed well and accordingly their FIDE Rating has been opened.

            D Dhruva Kumar is the highest FIDE Rating among the players who have recently opened their rating with 1271, followed by J S Virat, with a FIDE rating of 1113, V Yashwant, with a FIDE rating of 1077 and D Shrestha Vijay with a FIDE Rating of 1069.

            Meanwhile, the Athens of the East 2nd International Grand Master Open Chess Tournament 2022 has begun today at Madurai in which R Kashthuri Bhai, a FIDE Rated player from GDMS Port Blair is participating in the below 1600 category.
