Gambling dens busted 35 persons arrested and 2.4 lakh rupees seized by south Andaman police

Port Blair Oct 28:  The team of South Andaman Police has busted gambling den in the jurisdiction of South Andaman and a total of 35 persons have been arrested with recovery of more than 2.4 Lakh rupees. On 27/10/19, receipt of credible information regarding gambling, the team of PS Aberdeen led by Insp. Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen comprising SI Pothanpalli Jeevan, HC Sunil Singh Yadav, PCs Suresh Kumar & Vinod Linya raided at three places Dudhline, Ranchi Basthi & near Kali Mandir, Nayagaon area respectively and arrested 16 persons involved in gambling. An amount of Rs. 1,76,933/- cash and a deck of playing cards were recovered from the possession of accused persons. On the same day, the team of PS Bambooflat led by SI K. Ellangovan, SHO PS Bambooflat comprising SI Sudhir, HC Venkat, PCs Ashok Roy, Anil, Debashish, Suresh Kumar & Jaspal Singh raided near Shore Point Graveyard and arrested 07 persons involved in gambling. An amount of Rs. 60,500/- cash and a deck of playing cards were recovered .Consequently, the team of PS Ograbraj led by SI V.K. Maurya, SHO PS Ograbraj comprising SI Satvir Singh, HCs B. Krishna Rao, John Crisistom, PCs Nazir Ahmed, Shiva Kumar, Pabitro Sikari, Bipin Kumar Dung Dung, V.M. Vinoj, Bikash Kr. Sen & PC(D) Gregory raided near Water Tank, Chouldari area and arrested 12 persons involved in gambling. An amount of Rs. 11,255/- cash and a deck of playing cards were recovered.These entire operations took place under SDPO South Andaman & SDPO Bambooflat under the overall direction and supervision of Mr. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to Police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
