Gandhi Jayanti Celebration by ANTCC

Port Blair, Oct 03: Together with rest parts of India, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee observed Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi along with the birth anniversary of Former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri at Gandhi Bhawan, Port Blair on 10:00 am

ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder, ANTCC Campaign Committe Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker along with senior leaders of Congress Party and it’s frontal organizations attended the function and paid floral tributes to the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Bharat Ratna K. Kamaraj whose death anniversary falls on the same day was also remembered during the occasion. Presentation of “Bhajan” on communal harmony were the other highlights of the day.

Addressing the party workers, Mr. Halder recalled the services and sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi and said that he laid down his life for the nation and it’s secular identity, which will continue to unite the people irrespective of their caste or religion.

While paying tributes to Gandhi ji, Mr. Bhasker remembered his great contribution, who led the freedom movement of the country and achieved it through non-violence means. He said Gandhiji’s philosophy of non-violence, peace and brotherhood is becoming more relevant with every passing day.
