ICAR-CIARI Organized Training on Entrepreneurship Development through Mariculture

Port Blair, March 09: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair has conducted a training programme on “Entrepreneurship Development through Mariculture” during 03-09 March, 2020 at ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair. The program was funded by ICAR- Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi under All India Network Programme on Mariculture (AINP) organized in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Andaman under the chairmanship of Dr. B. Augustine Jerard, Director, ICAR-CIARI. During the seven days training programme, the trainees were sensitized and exposed to various aspects of mariculture such as mud crab fattening, seaweed farming, marine ornamental fish breeding and open sea cage culture.

In his valedictory address, Dr.B. Augustine Jerard, Director, ICAR-CIARI highlighted the importance and need for promoting mariculture activities in the islands for livelihood and self-employment.

Altogether, 12 participants from different villages of South Andaman have participated in the training programme which was coordinated by Dr. Gladston Y. Scientist, ICAR-CIARI from the Division of Fisheries Science.
