IPA President requests CS to make travel arrangements at the earliest for stranded people

Port Blair, September 11: The President Island Protection Forum, Mr. MT Musthafa has requested the Chief Secretary, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands to make travel arrangements for the passengers stranded at Port Blair for a long time.

In a letter addressed to the CS, AN Administration, Mr. Musthafa stated that most of the passengers submitted their application in the Deputy Commissioner (SA) for their turn to get the COVID test done to travel back to their homes.

“They have also registered their names in the STS ticket counter to travel by bus to reach their destination and waiting for their turn,” Mr. Musthafa stated.

According to Mr. Musthafa near about 1000 inter- Islander passengers are stranded at Port Blair. They are compelled to visit the DC office, STS counter, and shipping office to confirm their tickets for the last 20 days.

“Due to non-availability and delay in the transportation services, the inter-Island passengers are facing financial crises and are unable to afford their long stay as well as daily food,” Mr. Musthafa added.
