LG’s Message on Doctors’ Day

I extend my warm greetings to all the Doctors of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the auspicious occasion of National Doctors’ Day. This day is celebrated every year on the 1st of July since 1991 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Legendary Physician and former Chief Minister of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. During Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Andaman and Nicobar Islands join the whole Nation in celebrating this occasion.

India has carved a niche in the field of Medical Science with path-breaking innovations. We need to continue our zest for excellence in the medical field and take resolute steps to embrace emerging technologies.

The sincere dedication to their profession and unflinching commitment to serving the humanity exhibited by the Doctors and Health Care Workers during difficult COVID pandemic times deserve much appreciation. While most of us were home-isolating ourselves during COVID times, Doctors and Paramedics continued their selfless service to the extent of risking their own lives and remained a constant source of hope and inspiration to mankind. By dint of their sheer hard work and professionalism, we not only achieved a remarkably high survival rate but also outperformed many advanced countries. Doctors and Health Care Workers have emerged as our National Heroes.

I wish all the Doctors to stay healthy and continue to serve humanity in the upcoming times with the same zeal and enthusiasm, as they have been showing all through their professional careers and beyond.
