Port Blair, June 17: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has requested the Chief Secretary to provide a ship for Diglipur via Mayabunder thrice a week till the NH4 is repaired and normal movement vehicles are restored.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary the Member of Parliament added that the condition of Andaman Trunk Road is extremely bad due to earth work followed by rain.
He added that due to heavy rain some parts of Andaman Trunk Road after Kalara Junction have become extremely dangerous for vehicles and the entire area has become prone to accidents.
The Member of Parliament added that due to the pathetic condition of the road most of the private vehicles are not taking risk of going uptoDiglipur even at a high rate. People with private vehicles are also avoiding driving on such roads. As demand for STS bus tickets has increased, not everyone is getting bus tickets.
