Member of Parliament demands to make Dialysis unit of Bambooflat CHC operational and allowing overage candidates to apply for the post of Contract Staff Nurses in Ayush

Port Blair, Sept 21: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands , Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma today met the Principal Secretary of Health Department with several crucial issues related to health sector.

During the Meeting the Member of Parliament informed the Principal Secretary that the dialysis unit of Bambooflat CHC is nonoperational at present, because of which total 22 dialysis patients of the region are going through huge mental and physical pain.

The MP informed that as the vehicle ferry vessels between Bambooflat and Chatham are not allowing four wheelers, the patients are facing difficulties in reaching Port Blair from Bambooflat for dialysis.

The Member of Parliament suggested that certain parts, needed to make the dialysis unit operational once again, is available in the OT unit of the hospital, which is also not operational.

Hence he requested the Principal Secretary to use those parts of OT unit in the dialysis unit and make the dialysis unit operational again.

The MP requested the Principal Secretary to anyhow make the dialysis unit operational to bring relief for all 22 dialysis patient of the region.

On the matter of appointment of Staff Nurses in Ayush, the Member of Parliament requested the Principal Secretary to allow all eligible candidates who have crossed their age to apply for the post, as the posts are on contract basis.

He said that many candidates for the Staff Nurse post, who have crossed their age, have worked dedicatedly in past in Health Sector, even during the time of the first and second waves of COVID-19 and hence they should also be given equal opportunity to apply for the post.

The Principal Secretary assured to Member of Parliament to do needful in this regard.
