Port Blair, June 18: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, has requested the Lt. Governor to consider the plea of the hoteliers of A&N Islands for the implementation of Judgment passed by JERC in respect to charging electricity tariff at industrial rates instead of commercial rates for hotels having Udyog Aadhar issued to them under MSME. The hotel industry is one of the worst affected sectors due to the Covid-19 lockdown and if the tariff for electricity consumption is charged at commercial rates then it will add to their misery.
Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has emphasized that hotel industry has been the only source which provided job to thousands of islanders. On considering the fact that due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown enforced the entire tourism related activities has come to a standstill and hence Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has humbly requested The Lt. Governor to enforce the Judgment passed by JERC considering the ground realities and the present state of affairs.
