MP demands plying of Private buses in South Andaman area

Port Blair, July 01: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament has requested the Chief Secretary to extend permission for plying of Private buses in South Andaman area. There are about 200 driver, conductors and cleaners who earn their livelihood from this sector may also be considered by allowing operating the private buses.

He has also pinpointed the anguish encountered by the employees engaged in this sector on the present state of affairs and the difficulties faced by them mentally as well as financially. He has also highlighted that they don’t have any other source of income and due to the lockdown they are confined to their home and running pillar to post to meet their daily expenses and family welfare. He has highlighted that already the autos, cabs, trucks and other mode of transport has been granted permission for movement and the private buses is the only sector which has been deprived of this relaxation. Hence relaxation may be considered on humanitarian grounds and be allowed to ply the buses by following the strict instructions on Covid-19 protocols laid down by the Administration.
