MP requests Chief Secretary to ensure sustainable development of Port Blair city

Port Blair, Nov 6: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament along with Elected Councillors and general public met the Chief Secretary on 4th Nov. 2019 and requested him to allot 05 acres of land lying vacant in between rear side of Veer Savarkar International Airstrip connecting to Bhatuhasti end and  commercial parking space to Smart City Project.  As per smart city mission of Govt. of India suggested to make the islands vibrant and Eco-friendly tourist destination, focusing on trade and industry development, well-organized metropolitan services, participatory social development and connectivity.

Hence Mr. Sharma has requested to ensure sustainable development of Port Blair city & to improve the key metrics of liveability and environmental sustainability, these areas need to be re-shaped into Modern Park with all facilities like Gymnasium, Library, Walking and Jogging track, Volley ball Court, Basket Ball Court, Swimming pool, Yoga Centre, Skill development centre where people from all walks of life from the nearby neighbourhood of Bathubasti, Pathurgudda, Garacharama, Austinabad, Calicut, Old Pahargaon, Brookshabad, Brijgunj etc, covering a population of nearly fifty thousand people, can come & utilize the idle space for noble cause which holds greater sense of socio-civic importance under Govt. of India smart city mission project and thus the unused public area may be developed into more constructive place in the best interest of general public/islanders with utmost priority seeing their convenience and wellbeing. Further to above, the general public get a better opportunity for better health and especially the youths can be engaged in constructive works and remain away from social evils.
