MP requests Chief Secretary to provide 2 boats in a week to Saheed Dweep

Port Blair, May 12: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration that due to non availability of boat to Saheed Dweep after 2nd May, 2021, many residents belongs to Saheed Dweep who came to Port Blair for medical treatment and other purposes including the teachers from Middle & North Andaman and South Andaman whose summers vacation started from Ist May, 2021 are stranded at Port Blair since many days and they are facing acute financial problems for their stay in the private lodges including food since the money available with them has been exhausted.
He also further said that Saheed Dweep is one of Tourist destination and due to COVID and imposition of lockdown, tourists are not going to this Island since last one year and the livelihood of unemployed youths involved in the tourism activity is affected and as of now only source of income for them is agriculture. Therefore he requested the Chief Secretary to provide 2 boats in a week to Saheed Dweep so that vegetable and milk is brought from Saheed Dweep to Port Blair market and the people stranded at Saheed Dweep are brought to Port Blair.
