MP requests DGP to extend tenure of Home guard volunteers

Port Blair, June 16: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, has requested the Director General of Police to sympathetically consider granting extension to the Home guard volunteers whose tenure are to be completed in the month of June 2021. He has stated that due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and frequent lockdowns it will be difficult for them to get a job in the near future and most of the Home guard volunteers who have served the Home Guard Organization are the only bread earners for their families. The Home Guard volunteers have served sincerely, selflessly and dedicatedly during their three years tenure of service. In anticipation of the outbreak of third wave of Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has humbly requested his esteemed self to consider granting extension of service of the Home guard Volunteers under the present state of affairs on humanitarian grounds.
