MP writes to PM demands 3.5 lakhs vaccines, 2DG medicines and starting Monoclonal Antibody treatment in Andaman

Port Blair, June 21: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament has requested the Prime Minister to provide 3.5 lakh doses of vaccines to A&N Islands and also 2DG medicines which will reduce oxygen dependency.

He has also requested to send few specialists for starting Monoclonal Antibody treatment facilities in order to bring down the death rate of Covid patients to nil.

On the other hand he has pointed out the sudden surge in Covid-19 positive cases and has advocated that better preparedness is the need of the hour for fighting Covid-19 considering the limited facilities in A&N Islands and the difficulties in bringing in more medicine and equipments in case of further outbreak of Covid.

He has highlighted that some states in mainland have not used their stock of vaccines and has requested the Hon’ble Prime Minister to divert these stock to A&N islands so that vaccine can be administered to all the islanders within a weeks’ time. He has proclaimed that if these doses of vaccines are sent to A&N Islands then it will be the first territory in entire India to get fully vaccinated. Mr. Sharma, Member of Parliament, has said that against all odds the A&N Administration has made all out efforts to fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
