Port Blair, Sept 29: The NSUI State President Mr. M.A Sajid on Wednesday wrote a letter to Chief Secretary, demanding the release of Post-Matric scholarship funds for OBC students and asked him to clear all dues immediately.
According to Mr. Sajid, the OBC students who were drawing scholarships in the college had not received financial assistance over the past two years. Moreover, he alleged the Administration was diverting these funds for other schemes.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Sajid wrote that the OBC students are already suffering financially due to the second wave of COVID-19 and online mode of education. They are upset and deeply stressed over the lack of resources for continuing their classes and that their families are finding it difficult to pay their fees.
He sought Chief Secretary’s intervention for expediting the release of backlog amount under the Post Matric Scholarship for OBC scheme (PMS-OBC) for the period of 2019 to 2021 within 15 days.
