NSUI team performs last rites of Islander died because of COVID19

Port Blair, Aug 12: The National Students Union of India (A&N Islands) under the direction of Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, PCC President, Guidance of Miss. Mamatha Nerlige, National Secretary & In charge A&N Islands NSUI and leadership of Mr. M.A Sajid, State President NSUI, performed the final rites of a patient who succumbed to COVID-19 four days back. The deceased name was Late Paul Raj who was a retired PGT at Govt. Boys Senior Secondary school. His relatives were struck in mainland due to lockdown and there was no one to perform his funeral ceremony.

Realizing the seriousness of the problem, M.A Sajid reached G.B Pant hospital and received the dead body at 09.00 PM along with his team members namely Reshab Shaw (State General Secretary), Saurav Nair (State General Secretary), Vishal Din (JNRM, Unit President) B.Ajeesh (Active member) by wearing PPE kits and brought it to the Graveyard near Netaji Stadium where the funeral ceremony was done around 10.00 PM.

After which the dead body of Late. Paul Raj was buried following all protocols of COVID-19. All necessary help & support was provided by Mr. Ahmed Ali, PGT (Physical Education) GBSSS, Mr. Ramachandran, Retd. PGT GBSSS, Mr. Sajeevan, PGT DIET and P. Jaya Murthy PGT (Economics) GSSS Hadoo,Bala Murugan Servai (Social worker)

This act by NSUI has shown us the spirit of Humanity is still alive in these Islands. Mr. M A Sajid told media that he and his team is always ready to help islanders no matter whatever be the situation.
