Number of convoy on ATR restricted to one

Port Blair, July 26: In the wake of increase in COVID-19 cases in A&N Islands and in order to prevent spread of COVID-19 in the tribal area, the number of convoy on the Andaman Trunk Road passing through Jarawa Tribal Reserve has been restricted to one only, with effect from July 27, 2020, an order to this effect issued by the Secretary,Tribal Welfare said. Accordingly, the Order states that only one convoy per day from Jirkatang to Middle Strait and one convoy per day from Middle Strait to Jirkatang will be allowed from July 27 onwards till further order. The timing of convoy will be 1000 hrs from Jirkatang to Middle Strait and1500 hrs from Middle Strait to Jirkatang. The health status of the Driver/Crew & Passengers must be undertaken before they cross into other District. Further, the travellers must ensure the following while passing through Jarawa Tribal Reserve: – (i) Always wear mask, (ii) Sanitize hands (iii) Maintain social distancing (iv) Follow convoy (v) Keep vehicle windows closed (vi) Don’t give eatables to tribal (vii) Don’t stop vehicle in Jarawa area (viii) Don’t allow Jarawa to get into vehicle
