Port Blair, Apr 12: In continuation of the District Administration’s drive to reach doorsteps of citizen, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman along with Superintendent of Police (SA), Assistant Commissioner (SA)/ SDM (SA) and SDPO (SA) visited the citizen residing at South Point and Shadipur. The team requested people above 45 to take COVID vaccination to fight against the COVID -19 pandemic.
During the visit DC (SA) directed the doctor and ANMs to mobilize all 45+ age group beneficiaries to the Vaccination centres to get them vaccinated at the nearest centres. DC also instructed to identify the physically challenged senior citizens to facilitate them for COVID vaccination at their doorsteps, through mobile vaccination teams.
The “Tika Utsav” is being celebrated from 11th April to 14th April 2021, in which first two days massive public participation was witnessed for vaccination. On the first day of Utsav 1,976 vaccine doses have been administered, followed by 3,263 doses on the second day. Till date 30,096 number of vaccine doses have been administered under South Andaman District. The District Administration has appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the public in vaccination drive and requested to continue their support and ensure 100 % vaccination for the eligible beneficiaries.
The initiative of District Administration is being replicated by the Revenue Officials, Police Personnel, ANMs, Anganwadi workers, AHSA workers and Civil Society Organizations in the community level and it became a mass awareness campaign in the South Andaman District for COVID vaccination.
DC (SA) also requested general public to support administration in spreading awareness among the 45+ aged nears & dears to take Covid vaccine to restrain the spread of COVID-19 and reiterated the five-fold strategy of Testing, Tracing, Treatment, COVID appropriate behavior and vaccination to be meticulously implemented in South Andaman District.
