Port Blair, Aug 30: Mr. Prakash Mandal, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Uttara has requested the Director, Directorate of Tourism, A&N Administration for the beautification of Azad Hind FaujSetu and introduction of setu area as a wi-fi zone to improve the importance of the bridge and attract more tourist in the area.
In a letter, Mr. Mandal mentioned that the Azad Hind FaujSetu is attracting numerous people to visit the bridge as a tourist place owing to the historical name given to it.
Therefore, Mr. Prakash Mandal, Pradhan, GP Uttara has proposed the Tourism Department to beautify the Setu by installing coloured chain lights on the lamp post of the setu similar to the Marina Park complex.
He also proposed to introduce wi-fi on the Setu and declare the setu as a wi-fi zone from 04 pm to 08 pm. Further, he requested the illumination of the bridge in the evening and the installation of a “Welcome to Azad Hind FaujSetu” at the bridge.
