PS Central Crime Station arrested 02 for Making Illicit Liquor (Junglee) from Maccapahar, 1000 Liters Destroyed

Port Blair, Sept 06: Central Crime Station police in its continuous efforts to crackdown on bootlegging, illegal and spurious liquors, strikes hard against bootleggers and conducted a Jungle search operation at Rangachang No.4 jungle Maccapahar area.

After persistent efforts and developing specific information, the staff of PS Central Crime Station comprising ASI Vijay Shankar, Head Constables Sanjay Kujur, Upender Singh, S. Baroi, Constables N. Thangaraj, Hari Krishna Yadav, P. K. Mondal and G. Ravi under the command of Inspr. Mahesh Kumar Yadav, SHO, PS CCS, carried out a jungle search operation against bootleggers in Rangachang No. 4 jungle, Maccapahar on 04/09/2020. After searching for an hour, they found that two persons are making some beverage with bhatti and other equipments. The team encircled them from all sides and overpowered them when they tried to flee from the spot. They identified themself as T. Mahendran R/o Macca Pahar and Pramod Kumar R/o Rangachang No.4. They admitted that they were making spurious alcoholic beverage, locally known as “Junglee” as during lockdown there is a huge demand of IMFL and ANIIDCO vends are closed. So in order to earn huge profit they planned to make junglee liqour. The raiding team seized ten (10) two liters water bottle containing 20 liters of spurious illicit liquor “Junglee” from the spot. Bhatti and other articles were also seized and 06 drums containing around 1000 liters of Fermented wash ‘Lahan’ were destroyed on the spot under camera. Preparation of such alcoholic beverage under uncontrolled environment is illegal and can be highly toxic. A case under section 188/34 IPC r.w.s 32 Reg. III rd of 1876 & 51(b) of DM Act 2005 was registered at PS CCS. The jungle search operation was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Jagdev Singh Yadav, Dy.SP (CID) and overall command and supervision of Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP(CID).

 

The Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these islands free from anti-social activities and is keeping strict vigil to stop gambling, smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substances in these Islands. General Public is once again requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substances, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, & 9474233832. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
