Port Blair, Sept 22: Today ICDS Ferrargunj under Directorate of Social welfare department organized Rashtriya Poshan maah-2020 with the theme : “Plantation drive for promotion of kitchen garden” and “Identification & tracking of children with severe acute malnutrition ” at Gram Panchayat hall, Stewartgunj. Ms. V. K.Mariyam Bibi, Chairperson (Education & Social justice Committee), Zilla Parishad, South Andaman was the chief guest on this occasion.She highlighted the aims and objectives of organising such programs in village levels which in turn help in improving the status of nutrition of women and children . The month long program to create awareness among the people involving PRI’s and other stakeholder is a good step taken by the administration. She emphasised on proper care of mother & her child for better growth. The Anganwadi workers demonstrated the use of smart phone which was provided to them by the social department to update all details online for better service to the people . They also given the details of rations which is being provided to the children. Pradhan, Panchayat secretary, ward members were present during the program.
