South Andaman Police Confiscate 66.5 Kgs of Venison

Port Blair, July 15: South Andaman Police continuing its action on illegal trade and poaching of wildlife animals has achieved great success on 14/07/2021 by confiscating 66.5 Kgs of venison.

A credible information was received that a person was transporting venison (Deer meat) in PS Chatham Jurisdiction. Acting swiftly on the information, a team headed by Insp. Jyoti Chhatwal SHO PS Chatham, along with PSI Sumit Singh, HC Victor Dung Dung, PCs A. Abdul Sameer and K. Ali reached the spot and identified the person.

Upon search, a total of 66.5 Kg of venison was found in his possession. The accused was apprehended and the venison was seized on the spot. The accused is identified as Harshit Gain S/o Shri Lal Mohan Gain (46 yrs) Pvt. Worker R/o Bathu Basti near Marine Colony. The seized venison and the dinghy used by the accused were handed over to Range Officer (Protection) Wild Life Division No.1 for further necessary action as per the Wildlife Protection Act.

The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
