Training imparted to Community Disaster Response Volunteer Force (CDRVF)

Port Blair, Oct 16: In order to enhance the disaster preparedness in the community, a one day Training Workshop for Community Disaster Response Volunteer Force (CDRVF) under Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) has been conducted on 16.10.2019 in the Community Hall, Manglutan involving the CDRVF, Community, Govt. Officials and PRI members of Gram Panchyat Guptapara, Humfrygunj and Wandoor area.

In the inaugural session, Mr. Gyan Singh, Assistant Director (Logistics), Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration briefed the objectives of the programme. He also elaborated the Pre, during and Post Disaster Activities, preparation of Village Disaster Management Plans with focus on creating a Volunteer Force at Gram Panchayat level.

Mr. Ram Bala, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Wandoor, Smti S. Appalnarsamma, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Guptaparan and Smti. Minati Biswas, ZillaParishad Member, Guptapara attended the programme stressed on community disaster preparedness which is very essential for every villagers for safety of themselves as well as their community and requested participants to participate enthusiastically in making the programme a success and learn all disaster precautionary measures from this training workshop.  .

The Mr. Janik Ram, Assistant Director (Admn.), Directorate of Disaster Management appreciated the efforts of all PRI members towards generation of disaster awareness and preparedness at grassroot level. He also spoke on the disaster management activities of the Administration and the role of the community which can play the vital role for strengthening the disaster preparedness.

During the technical session, Mr. Deen Mohammed, Safety Officer, Directorate of Disaster Management elaborated on Emergency Communication and Early Warning System of ANI and also on various communication elements that renders an institution “well prepared” to manage events during a disaster. He also stressed to prepare the Disaster Management Kit in each household.

Mr. Dinesh Singh (HC), Fire Station, Garacharma along with his team explained and demonstrated various classes of fire and exhibited different types of fire safety equipments. Mr. D.S. Kushwaha, Sub-Inspector, NDRF and team presented different techniques and procedures of rescue operation during disasters including MFR (Medical First Response) and SAR (Search & Rescue).
