Port Blair, Aug 16: The Transport Department towards providing improved services to the citizen, took a historic step and shifted its motor vehicle registration related activities from “VAHAN 1.0 to VAHAN 4.0” software version.
This shifting of the process will enable the citizen to make the fee payment for transactions like road tax, fitness, registration, renewal, hypothecation etc online and at the same time ATR Express bus ticketing will also be made available online.
Towards ensuring good governance especially during the ongoing pandemic where maintenance of social distancing is of paramount importance to prevent the spread of the virus, it is expected that the effort to improve the quality of service being provided by the Administration would immensely benefit the citizen and bring about a positive change.
With the launch of “VAHAN 4.0” version, many services will now be available to the citizen online. Road tax and all types of fee payment can now be paid from any place having net connectivity thereby avoiding multiple visits to transport office. Applicants now will be informed about the status of their application at every stage by way of SMS to their registered mobile number. Moreover applicant can now view the application status online by visiting the URL https://vahan.parivahan.gov.in/vahanservice .
