UTCPCR conducts visit to Anganwadi Centre in South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman

Port Blair, Sept 24: Andaman &Nicobar UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights (UTCPCR) functioning in the islands is a statutory body constituted under CPCR Act 2005 to access and review safeguards that are provided for child rights protection under the existing laws and take up complaints regarding the violation of Child Rights in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

As part of its monitoring activities the Commission through it Chairperson (Shri. Taranga Kumar Dhali) and Members (Smti. Sampa Banerjee & Smti. Neeta Agarwal) has been undertaking visit to Anganwadi Centre in South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman. The officials from UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights recently visited Anganwadi Centre at (Garacharma-4 (ward-24), Garacharma-9 (ward-18), Junglighat-9, Police line & VIP Road (ward-13) in Port Blair and Anganwadi Centre, Uttara Bazar, North & Middle Andaman.) to ascertain on ground observance of laid down standard guidelines under National Nutrition Mission (NNM) for the benefit of Pregnant and Lactating Women, Adolescent Girls and Children’s.

The officials of Commission interacted with the Anganwadi Workers present there and apprised themselves of the implementation modalities being followed. Matters which need intervention for better implementation of program for improving nutrition have been taken note off.
