Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation organizes programme on Dairy Development at GP Kanyapuram

Port Blair, Jun 08: A programme on Dairy Development was organized by Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation and supported by NABARD, Port Blair for the people of Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram on 07th June 2022 at Community Hall of Model Village.

            The programme was held to promote awareness among the farmer community on livestock management and Dairy Development by associating the expertise of the Department of Animal Husbandry, ICAR-CIARI, Banking institutions and Gram Panchayat Kanyapuram.

            With the objective to educate farmers on how to practice livestock management and increase the yield, this awareness program witnessed a number of livestock farmers getting the benefits from the experts under one roof. The programme started with the Department of Animal Husbandry explaining in detail the possible diseases among the animals and the treatment available as a cure.

            The farmers were educated about the quality of feeders and a balanced diet for their animals which would eventually keep the animal healthy and yields better. The scientist from the CIARI provided ideas on how to convert the dried areca nut leaves into a feeder which is considered a perfect balanced diet for the animals.

            They also demonstrated a machine that breaks down the dried areca nut leaves into small pieces which can be used to feed the animal. Further, the farmers were urged to use modern technology to increase their yields and for the same objective, the availability of loans was also discussed. The process of loan procurement and eligibility for the same was also explained in detail by the banker representing NABARD.

The entire program was spearheaded by Mr. Mohanram Kumar, Director, Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation, Port Blair. Also, Dr. Nargis Anwar, CCRH, Ayush Ministry, Dr. Rohit Paul, JRF, CCRH, Ministry of Ayush, Mr. Pramod Saha, Branch Manager, SBI, Wimberly Gunj and Dr. Koel, Anthropologist, ANRC, ANCI, Port Blair were present as the expert dignitaries at the venue.

            To grace the occasion, Mr. P. Abdul Basheer, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Kanyapuram was invited as chief guest by the organizers. Speaking to the farmers, Mr. P. Abdul Basheer expressed gratitude to Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation for conducting such a program for the benefit of farmers and he also expressed his word of thanks on behalf of the people he represents to the experts for rendering selfless service to the needy farmers.
